Today is International Women’s Day, a day that takes on its own meaning and significance for each of us. No matter what your special connection is to this day, it is undoubtedly a time to celebrate and recognise the women we know, who continue to shape and change the way we live and work for the better.

In every workplace, there are women who motivate, inspire and challenge us to be and do better. It goes without saying that at Facilities First, there are many women who take on this role.

One woman in particular who continues to inspire us to be and do better, is Contract Manager, Jodie Rumble.

With over 23 years’ experience in the Venues & Events Space, Jodie joined our team in early 2019 heading up ANZ & Bankwest Stadiums, Venues Presentations Team.

As one of our many inspiring female leaders, we took the time to ask Jodie about the significance of International Women’s Day to her.

What does this year’s theme #balanceforbetter mean for you in your work life?

To me, Balance for Better signifies equality across all aspects of your work. It is about having the same access to opportunities regardless of whether you are a man or a woman.

What makes you feel empowered in your role?

I feel a sense of empowerment in my role through the respect and trust I receive from Facilities First. I’m trusted to do my role and that makes me feel good about coming to work each day, I have a strong sense of purpose.

Just last month we had one of our largest events at the Stadium, with a crowd of approximately 70,000 coming through for the Eminem concert. The Management team put a lot of trust in myself and our cleaning team and as a result we had great success with the arena cleared and cleaned in just 70 minutes.

Who inspires you as a female role model and why?

Julie Bishop inspires me; her presentation and the way she handles herself in complex situations is admirable.

How do you think we can all contribute to a better and balanced world?

I believe we can all contribute to a world that is better and balanced by recognising men and women as equal. By committing to equal pay, equal recognition and equal opportunity, we can all contribute to a better society.
